Roots and Resilience:
White People Practice Showing Up
A Healing Retreat at the Intersections of Healing, Spirituality and Social Change
Environmental collapse and daily human rights abuses, our world is in crisis. Too many people are dying at the hands of white supremacy and systems of oppression. We are need of a spiritual revolution.
We are also in a time when more and more people are joining movements for racial justice. From the powerful visions and leadership of the Movement for Black Lives, Standing Rock, Mijente, and the Poor People’s Campaign.
However, changemaking is trauma work. We must respond to this truth with every effort possible. Currently, our changemaking work is full of intense burn out, infighting, confusion, depression, anxiety, disconnected strategy, reactionary responses and focus on reacting to every crisis with little space for visioning and imagining a different world.
Systemic racism has disconnected us white folks from our ancestry, cultures, our spirituality, and our humanity.
We are in a new era of antiracism, one that is asking us to consider a holistic approach to the work, to our relationships and to ourselves. One that centers a re-connection to the earth and to our ancestors.
We must examine the ways that our bodies, hearts and psyches are part of the work of building the world we need. We must connect practice and action if we are to contribute towards creating a new way of being and creating a world more beautiful. |
The journey of liberation is spiritual.
